In cooperation with the Kadoorie Foundation and Ministry of Health in China, PTC commenced a three-year training project in China in September 2010.
The aim of the project was to introduce Chinese doctors to a set of trauma care procedures and teaching methodology in order to develop an appropriate Primary Trauma Care training model suitable for a Chinese context, especially in rural areas and also to improve rescue and treatment proficiency in China.
The initial training in China was delivered by overseas PTC Instructors, but as more Chinese doctors were trained they took on the responsibility of presenting and delivering the courses throughout the country.
During the period of the project (2010 – 2013) the following was achieved:
• 21,479 doctors were trained
• 1,053 Primary Trauma Care courses were presented
• 2,890 Chinese doctors participated in teaching the PTC course to other Chinese doctors
• 27 Provinces in China were involved in the programme
