How long is a PTC course?
A PTC course is normally five days: we refer to this as a Five Day Model, which is a proven structure. This entails an initial 2 day PTC Foundation Course followed by a 1 day Instructors Course and then a further 2 day Foundation Course presented by the newly trained Instructors under the supervision of the initial team.
Not everyone attends for the full five days – the standard Foundation Course lasts for two days only.

How much does it cost to attend a PTC course?
All courses are provided free of charge. However, participants are normally invited to make a donation towards the cost of maintaining PTC training programmes. We do not want this to be a barrier to anyone, so please do feel free to discuss it with your course organiser or contact the PTCF Administrator for further information and guidance.
Can I utilise PTC’s training materials to design/develop a trauma course in my hospital?
PTC courses are adaptable and can be developed alongside specific trauma management training at district hospital level. A request should be made directly to the PTCF Administrator, giving details of the proposed training, location and your full contact information. Your request will be considered and you will be notified by email once a decision is made.
It should be noted however, that all PTC material is copyrighted and remains the property of the PTC Foundation. We ask that any PTC training material used should be attributed to the organisation and additionally we should receive a copy of any reports, if applicable. The text of PTC training manuals and instruction slides must not be changed or amended in any way.
What do I have to do to organise a PTC course in my country?
The most important requirement for a PTC course is a voluntary request from a “host” country. This can be from an anaesthetic, surgical or similar medical body. A formal request should be made to PTC head office who will assist in the coordination process along with an appointed course director and local coordinator who is normally the person who requested the course.
Initially, a convenient date should be established for the proposed course followed by guidance on who to invite and logistical arrangements. Further information: Organise a PTC Course.
