Born in 1963 in Bucaramanga (Colombia), attended to Liceo Patria in this city, to complete elementary school. When 10 years old, the family decided to move to Barranquilla, at the Colombian Caribbean coast, going to Biffi La Salle High School to getting in 1979 the Bachelor degree. The Medical Doctor degree was conferred by Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla) in December 1985 following which worked in rural areas of Colombia for 24 months.
In 1988 moved to Venezuela and starts the training course in Anesthesiology at Hospital Vargas de Caracas (Venezuela), ending it at December 1991. Was member of Hospital Vargas de Caracas Anesthesiology department staff until 2007 and served as person in charge of this department in many times. Always committed in education, was enrolled in the Anesthesiology training course staff of this department since 1994, where served as instructor, coordinator and chairman of the course.
In 2000, became ATLS® instructor (Columbia, USA), teaching in more than 15 courses in Venezuela until 2003 when decided a voluntary retire. Also, in 2001 became PHTLS® instructor (Chicago, USA), serving as an instructor and medical director of these courses in many times, until 2007 when its activities ended in the country. In 2005 took the PTC basic and instructor courses in Caracas and became the PTC Venezuela National Coordinator until December 2010, teaching in more than 20 courses and supporting PTC activities in other countries of the region. In October 2010, becomes PTC Latin America Representative, and from March 2011 is included in the PTC Council as Latin America representative.
Active member of Sociedad Venezolana de Anestesiolgía, who named to take the Coordination of Trauma and Anesthesia Commission of Confederación Latinoamericana de Sociedades de Anestesiología (CLASA) from 2005, being reelected in 2007 and 2009.
