Emmanuel Moro

Prof. Emmanuel Ben Moro, PhD (Ed), Mchir, MSc-HSM, MD.

Prof. Moro is an Associate Professor of Surgery, in Gulu, Northern Uganda and past Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Gulu University and is highly experienced in abdominal surgery with particular bias in Endocrine surgery and Emergency Surgery.

He is a retired senior Consultant Surgeon, has been the medical superintendent for Hoima Regional Referral Hospital and is a COSECSA Founding Fellow.  He is a world authority on endocrine surgery having trained in Greece he then trained in Emergency Medicine at the French SAMU in Paris and finally obtained a Master of Science in Health services management at Uganda Martyrs University, Uganda.

He has been the PTC co-ordinator for Uganda since 2008.  He has taught and supervised on countless PTC courses and in 2013 was responsible for the adoption of PTC training into the undergraduate medical curriculum as well as the default trauma training for Uganda healthcare professionals.

Lucy Obolensky

Dr Lucy Obolensky MRCGP MSc DTM&H FRGS FBES

An Associate Professor of Global Health + Remote Medicine at Plymouth University, CEO of Endeavour Medical, a company that delivers training in remote medicine, leadership, and global health. Lucy also balances clinical work in Emergency Medicine and General Practice with her academic role. With over 15 years’ experience in Global Health, she has travelled extensively setting up healthcare partnerships and public health programmes and as an expedition doctor has completed over 20 expeditions to date including polar, altitude, desert and jungle.

Lucy is the senior medical advisor for British Exploring Society and also teaches advanced medical skills to explorers and expedition leaders at the Royal Geographical Society and the BBC and has worked with Sir David Attenborough on the Planet Earth and Blue Planet II series and more recently worked with Sir David on the Our Planet series.

Lucy also gives motivational lectures at a variety of medical schools, universities, and companies, combining her academic background with personal experience in the field.

Andy Kent

Mr Andy Kent Deputy Director UK-Med, Head of Faculty of Remote Rural & Humanitarian Healthcare at RCSEd, senior PTC faculty and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Mr Andy Kent, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, is also senior PTC Faculty. As a commissioned army officer in the Royal Army Medical Corp, Andy trained in the services to become a consultant orthopaedic surgeon and was deployed throughout the globe including active duty is several austere and hostile environments. He completed a fellowship year in Baltimore, USA, specialising in trauma management. He was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in NHS Highland in 2002 and continues to deliver both elective and trauma surgical services. Andy has always been engaged in training and humanitarian work. He continues to teach on AO, ATLS, and Primary Trauma Care courses and recently has been appointed as the Surgical Director for UK-Med. Andy is a medical advisor for the HALO trust and in 2021 completed a deployment to Mosul for two months to support Iraqi colleagues manage battlefield civilian injuries.

“PTC training is effective; it has been tested and delivered for the past 26 years in some of the most hostile and remote places in the world. It saves lives and continues to prevent loss of limb and life. What makes this even more worthy of our praise is that it is sustainable in some of the poorest countries, with little funding or equipment. I have delivered many PTC courses and am proud to be a PTCF Ambassador.”
